Police in Carbondale are investigating an armed home invasion. During which, police say, the victim and suspect fought and the suspects gun went off.

According to a news release, it happened around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at a home in 1900 block of North Illinois Avenue.

At the scene, police learned that an armed suspect wearing a ski mask forced his way into the home. The suspect then made threats against the residents and then fought with a resident. During that fight the suspect’s gun fired. And then the suspect fled. No one was injured as a result of the gun shot. However one resident of the home was treated for minor injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing.
