MASSAC COUNTY, IL. (WJPF) – A Metropolis man is recovering after being hit by an SUV while standing at his mailbox.

According to Illinois State Police, the 39-year-old was standing at his mailbox along Mount Mission Road about a ½ mile east of Country Club Road in rural Massac County Monday when he was hit by a 2007 GMC Yukon XL.

The victim was taken to an out-of-state hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the GMC was uninjured.

Any charges are pending the outcome of an investigation.
