Former SIU Swimming & Diving head coach Rick Walker was selected to receive a Lifetime Achievement award by the Executive Board of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Walker led the Salukis to 16 conference titles across a 32 year career.  He also earned 13 Coach-of-the-Year awards from four different leagues.

Before joining SIU in 1987, Walker had an great swimming career.  At Indian River Community College he received seven All-American honors and set five NJCAA records. He moved on to Texas A&M University where he set school records in the 500, 1000, 1650 Freestyle and 400 Individual Medley.
