The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association announced their 2021 Hall of Fame Class Monday morning.  The headliner out of the Southern Illinois area is Carbondale graduate and former NBA player Troy Hudson.

Joining Hudson as players are Dan Cross, also of Carbondale, Kassie Redmon (Drew) of Anna-Jonesboro, and Abel Schrader of Okawville.

Among the coaches joining the IBCA Hall of Fame, former Harrisburg coach Ron Reed (1990-92) and former Marissa coach Jeff Faulkenberg (1983-87) receive the honor.  While neither had stellar records in the Southern Illinois region they would go on to have fantastic careers elsewhere in the state.  Faulkenberg is going in under the Career Coach designation.

Several downstate officials are going in to the Hall of Fame as well.  Honorees include Larry Barnett of Makanda, John Downey of Benton, Greg Rennegarbe of Okawville, and John Sallee of Nashville.

Two media members will be enshrined in the IBCA Hall of Fame.  Les Winkeler of The Southern and Mike McManus of the Centralia Morning Sentinel are being honored in the Class of 2021.

Carmi’s Jerry Williams is entering the Hall as a Friend of Basketball.
