FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — Four people sustained major injuries in a head-on crash Monday in Franklin County.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. on Logan Road, about one half mile south of Route 149.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Dave Bartoni, a 16-year-old driver caused the crash when they crested a hill in the opposing lane of traffic hitting another vehicle head on.

The 16-year-old driver and their 16-year-old passenger were airlifted from the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, 49-year-old Holly Filkins, and her three-year old passenger were also airlifted from the scene.

Any charges are pending the outcome of an investigation.
