PADUCAH, Ill. (WJPF) — A fatal crash shut down a portion of Interstate 24 near Paducah for about eleven hours Tuesday.

It happened at about 12:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes about three miles from the Illinois/Kentucky border.

Police say three tractor trailers and three passenger vehicles were involved. One of the tractor trailers rear-ended another vehicle and started a chain reaction crash. One person was killed.

The interstate was opened back up at about 11:15 p.m.
