Southern Illinois senior Matthis Besard was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday. This is the third time Besard has been recognized by the MVC with the weekly honor during the 2021-22 season.

Besard led the way for the Salukis with a second place overall finish at the 2022 Pizza Hut- Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational, helping SIU secure third place in their first action of the spring season.

Besard is now the all-time leader in career rounds in the 60s in Southern Illinois men’s golf program history after carding rounds of 67, 69, and 68 to finish with a total score of 12-under par (204).
