Southern Illinois graduate Birgir Magnusson was named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. This is the first time in Magnusson’s collegiate career being recognized by the MVC with the weekly honor.

Magnusson was locked in at the 2022 Shark Invitational in Long Island, New York, carding three rounds of 70 to finish first overall at 3-under-par (210). The individual medal is his best finish of the 2021-22 season. The Salukis finished runner-up in their last event before the MVC Championship on April 24, 2022 in Paducah, Kentucky.
