SALINE COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Illinois State Police are investigating the death of a 16 year old in Saline County.

Saline County deputies originally responded to the scene at a home on Raleigh Chapel Road in Raleigh after 9pm Wednesday, May 20. Due to an internal conflict of interest, ISP was called in to assist.

Police say the juvenile was taken from the scene and later died due to their injuries.

The Eldorado Community Unit School District #4 confirmed yesterday that the juvenile was Sophomore, Nathaniel Potts. They sent out a letter with condolences to Nathaniel’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone who knew him.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
