A Southern Illinois man, originally charged with multiple counts of murder in the 2010 death of Pinckneyville teenager Sidnee Stephens, has had those charges drop and has instead pleaded guilty to charges of home invasion.

Chad Bennett II, now 27, was initially charged in 2016 with four counts of first degree murder and one count of concealment of homicidal death and has been in jail for about two years.

Bennett has now accepted a plea deal to being an accomplice to home invasion. His other charges to be dropped. Sentencing will happen at a later date.

Three others connected to the crime are serving sentences ranging from 26 to 60 years. One committed suicide after sentencing but before being transferred to prison.
