MARION, IL. – A Chicago man will spend the next fourteen years in state prison on charges that he spit on, threatened, and bit law enforcement officers attempting to take him into custody.

34-year-old Alan Shields was arrested by Marion Police in February of this year. While he was being placed under arrest, Shield spit on one of the arresting officers. During the ride to jail, he made direct threats to police. And while at the jail, he but a correctional officer. That injury required stitches.
