CARBONDALE, IL. (WJPF) — One person was injured after a fiery single vehicle crash near Carbondale.

It happened around 12:30 PM Wednesday on Cedar Creek Road west of Union Hill Road.

Sheriff’s Deputies say that 43-year-old Vesta Rodriguez was westbound on Cedar Creek Road and failed to negotiate a sharp curve. Her vehicle left the road and then hit a tree.

The crash caused the vehicle to catch fire. Rodriguez made it out of the vehicle before it was consumed by flames. The vehicle is considered a total loss.

Rodriguez suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
