MARION, Ill. (WJPF) — A death investigation is underway in Williamson County.

Marion and State Police responded to a disturbance call at a Marion hotel early Monday morning. During the investigation, two people of interest fled the scene.

During a police chase, the suspect vehicle crashed on Longstreet Road, East of Route 37, and the suspects fled on foot into the woods.

Marion and Herrin Police used a K-9 to track the suspects. The police dog led officers to the dead body of a white male.

An autopsy has been scheduled. Names are being withheld pending family notification.

Illinois State Police will handle the investigation.
