WASHINGTON, DC. (IRN) — After considering to reconsider, U.S. Rep. John Shimkus says he still plans to retire at the end of his current term.

Last week, he was said to have second thoughts after another senior Republican lawmaker announced his own retirement, which could have put Shimkus in place for the top GOP spot on the Energy and Commerce Committee.
