“I would like to nominate Karen Schlenker Boyd from Jonesboro, IL. Karen is a retired Choate Mental Health nurse and gives countless hours giving to others. If she knows of anyone that needs funeral flowers, food or clothes she takes it upon herself to see that ppl are taken care of.
When Covid got bad, Karen has spent many sleepless nights making masks for anyone that needs one. Not accepting a dime but making sure everyone has some form of protection.
She was coming out a store and an elderly gentleman asked her about her mask. She had him follow her to her car where she gave him some for he and his wife.
This is Karen. This is what makes her the perfect recipient for a kindness award.
She would give the shirt off of her back and the last morsel of food to someone in need.
