Saying it’s too dangerous to continue operating, officials from the City of Carbondale have suspended the license of the Quality Inn.

The hotel, located in the 1400 block of E. Main Street, has been the scene of two incidents involving a firearm within a two-week period. The most recent shooting occurred Tuesday morning and sent two people to the hospital.

A Murphysboro man was arrested in connection with that incident.

In a prepared statement, City Manager Gary Williams said, “Where you have visitors and whoever else that might be there temporarily is just way too big of a threat; too much of a danger to the public.”

Hotel guests were in the process of seeking alternate housing accommodations.
