Most of Southern Illinois escaped damage from Sunday night’s storms.

In Chester, a roof collapsed at a nursing home. There was also a gas leak, but no fire. Officials reported all of the residents were safe.

Tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for several counties in Missouri and Illinois through most of the evening. Some damage was reported in St. Mary, Missouri.
