HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) – The City of Herrin is marking 100 years since the Herrin Massacre.

Between June 21 and 22, 1922, 17 coal mine employees were shot and killed in a union dispute.

Local author and historian Jon Musgrave will hold a presentation at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Herrin Library. At 3:00 p.m., there will be a ceremony honoring the victims at the Herrin Cemetery.
