MT. VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – A 40-year-old man has been arrested for arson in connection to a residential fire earlier this month in Mt. Vernon.

Mt. Vernon Police say in the early morning hours of July 8, Troy Davis, of Mt. Vernon, started a fire at an apartment complex located at 2020 Broadway. One resident was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and many more were displaced from their homes.

Troy Davis was taken into custody by US Marshals on Tuesday, July 19, in Indiana where he also faces a domestic battery charge. Davis is awaiting extradition back to Illinois.
