CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Southern Illinois Healthcare, the region’s largest healthcare provider and largest private employer, says it will end the fiscal year with a $50 million budget deficit and will eliminate or reorganize 76 leadership and corporate positions.

SIH says the move was a last resort and will consolidate leadership and streamline non-clinical operations. Laid off executives will receive severance packages.

Direct patient care positions are not affected for now. SIH employs around 4,000 people.
