Monday afternoon, SIU Football secured a commitment from transfer safety Aveon Grose out of Charlotte.  Grose is a 5’10 sophomore from Mansfield, Ohio.

In his freshman season, Grose played in six games for the 49ers and started in the final four games of the season.  Grose totaled 16 tackles in the 2022 season, including a season-high six stops against Middle Tennessee State University.

Coming out of high school, Grose was a three-star prospect according to multiple publications.  He was ranked among the top-40 prospects in Ohio.

Grose fills in a vacancy on the roster left by Clayon Bush, who left for the University of Illinois in late May.
