CARBONDALE, Ill. – Women’s basketball head coach Kelly Bond-White has announced that Karris Allen will be joining the 2024 recruiting class as SIU’s second signee.

Allen is a junior, 6-foot guard, who will be transferring from Western Kentucky University. She played in 55 games in two seasons with 12 starts for WKU. Allen shot 39% from the field, 35% from the three-point line and posted a total of 52 career steals.

Allen is a versatile guard that can play and guard multiple positions.

Allen is also a regional player who played high school less than one hour from SIU in Sikeston, Mo. At Sikeston High School, she was named All-Conference, All-District, SEMO Conference Leading Scorer, and was named Standard Democrat Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

The incoming junior guard plans on completing her BS in Exercise Science. She has also applied to SIU’s Physical Therapy Assistant program, which would help springboard her into her dream of becoming a physical therapist.

“Size will be a common theme as this class unfolds,” Bond-White said. “When Karris became available, our staff knew right away she was a young lady that fit our style of play. As a big guard, her length allows her to get out in passing lanes and create extra possessions. Her ability to shoot the three, coupled with her explosive first step to the rim creates complex closeout decisions. The academic open house was huge for Karris. She was able to meet with Department Heads and admissions to learn first hand how special SIU is.”
