There will be a few Southern Illinois representatives at this year’s Women’s College World Series this year.

Crab Orchard alum and former Johnston City coach Gerry Glasco led his Texas  Tech squad to a historic win on Monday night, bringing an end to Oklahoma’s dynasty.  Coming in to the postseason, Oklahoma was a four-time defending champ.

Texas Tech ace NiJaree Canady was once again electric tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts to lead the Red Raiders to a 3-2 victory.

Glasco’s daughter, Tara Archibald, is his associate head coach.  They will lead Texas Tech in to the Women’s College World Series Finals against Texas starting Wednesday night in a best-of-three series.
