Marion Wildcats boys basketball coach Gus Gillespie hit a big milestone on Saturday at the Cuss Wilson Classic.

The Cats collected a 78-57 win over Freeburg to move to 2-0 on the 2025-26 season after their season was snowed out the week previously at the Jacksonville Classic.

The win marked head coach Gus Gillepsie’s 550th career win.  It’s his 143rd win at Marion.  He also had 293 at Marshall County (KY), 92 at Robinson, and 22 at Centralia.  Gillespie is 550-241 on the career.

The Wildcats return to action Friday night when they host Breese Mater Dei.  The game will be heard on 95.1 STEVE FM.
