Three people are facing charges following an assault at a Carbondale business Tuesday evening.

Carbondale Police say officers responded to a panic alarm around 5:30 p.m. at a store in the 100 block of North Washington Street. Investigators say three suspects entered the business after a dispute over a return policy and assaulted employees, causing minor injuries, before fleeing in a vehicle.

Officers later located the suspects in the 700 block of South Lewis.

Thirty-three-year-old Lane Keith L. Smith and 32-year-old Keenan J. Reliford, both of Carbondale, were arrested and charged with aggravated battery and mob action. They were taken to the Jackson County Jail pending detention hearings.

A third suspect was released without charges after police determined he did not physically participate.

Police also arrested 32-year-old Kellie S. Loucks of Carbondale on a charge of concealing or aiding a fugitive.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Carbondale Police Department.
