FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Franklin County Sheriff’s Office launches new bicycle patrol pilot program.

The program will operate along 20 miles of bike trails at Rend Lake.  

This initiative will provide a visible law enforcement presence while also engaging and assisting trail users. The program aims to promote a safe and enjoyable environment for cyclists, walkers, runners, and families who utilize Rend Lake trails. 

Rend Lake is one of Southern Illinois’ premier outdoor recreation destinations, hosting approximately 1.5 million visitors annually.
