The 2016 Salem Community High School graduate made it four straight scoreless appearances, this time as a starter in Philadelphia Tuesday night. In his first Major League start, Martin retired the Phillies in order on six pitches, sandwiching fly outs by Trea Turner and Bryce Harper around a strikeout of Kyle Schwarber, who had homered twice against his former team the night before.

Martin pitched only the one inning, serving as the opener for the Cubs in a bullpen game that featured five pitchers and ended with 10-4 victory. For the season, Martin has not given up a run in four and a third innings, allowing only two hits, while striking out four and walking none.

Chicago (8-9) will go for the series win Wednesday at 5:40.
