Murphysboro athletic director Len Novara is getting ready for retirement at the end of the 2023-24 school year. He and Matt Varney sat down and talked about the Red Devil football program and how things have changed in his 23 years as Murphysboro AD.

After an 11-2 season and just the program's third semifinal appearance, the Murphysboro Red Devils were selected as the John A. Logan College Team of the Year. The Red Devils walked in to the year knowing they would have an elite defense but had question marks all over the offensive side of the ball. The Hamilton County Foxes were selected as the SIH Team of the Week after defeating Carterville on the road 57-55. They continued that success the following week at the Benton Invitational with a signature win over Pinckneyville.
