
CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Two people have been arrested after shots fired investigation in Carbondale.
Yesterday morning April 6, just after 5:45am, officers responded to the sound of multiple shots in the 600 block of North Bridge Street. The suspects had already left the area prior to the officers arrival. Officers learned a residence was damaged as a result of the gunfire, but no injuries were reported.
A suspect’s vehicle was located in the 400 block of West Cherry Street, where officers observed persons of interest enter a vehicle and leave. An attempt to stop the vehicle led to the driver fleeing from officers. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed at the intersection of East Chestnut and North Wall Streets. The crash resulted in minor property damage but no reported injuries.
The suspects tried to flee on foot but were arrested.
20 year old Iziekiel Garner of Herrin was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Resisting a Police Officer.
18 year old Zion Hill of Carbondale was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
