CENTRALIA, Ill. (WJPF) – An arrest has been made following a deadly shooting in Centralia.

21 year old Shavonte Samuels of Centralia was arrested for the shooting that occurred this past Sunday, April 19, in the 900 block of Kell Street.

Four total victims were taken to an area hospital with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, 19 yearold Stephen McCary III, was later pronounced deceased.

An investigation led to officers identifying Samuels as a suspect. He was taken into custody on Tuesday, April 21.

He faces charges of First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, four counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

Samuels remains in custody at the Marion County Jail pending a hearing on the State’s request that he be denied pretrial release.
