The “Campaign for Kindness” with Farmers State Bank continues today with a stop in Franklin County.  Greg Poole, from Benton, has been helping others for decades.  As a kid, Greg started “Can’s Can” by saving his aluminum cans, selling them for money, and then using that money to buy stuff for other people to help them out!  However, after doing it for a while, he understood the need was so great, he had to find a way to raise more money, to help more people!  So, he started selling baseball cards and sports memorabilia.  From there, things really took off!  Greg has helped hundreds of school districts get computers, laptops, supplies, just about anything.  His efforts have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through our radio auctions, and now, during this pandemic, he is shifting gears to help out another part of our population… our senior citizens.  “Can’s Can” now sets it’s sights on providing meals from local restaurants in the Benton area, to be delivered to seniors living at home with their care-takers.  There’s a whole lot more that “Can’s Can”, a 501c3 organization, is doing in Southern Illinois.  If you’d like to help, either with a monetary donation, or with a donation of items, get in touch with Greg Poole at “Can’s Can” website, his facebook page, or through an email at canscanministries@gmail.com.
