SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — Over 150 fire departments and EMS providers across the state, including many in southern Illinois, will share $3.5 million in state grants.

The small equipment grant program provides up to $26,000 for the purchase of small firefighting and ambulance equipment.

Over 500 applications, requesting around $12 million, were received.
