Veterans On Parade Scheduled for October 17th

It's time for Veterans on Parade!  A time to honor our nation's true heroes... our veterans!  Make sure to add it to your events!  Saturday, October 17th, in downtown Marion.  This year, there are some modifications being put in place for everyone's safety.  I was able to talk about Veterans on Parade with organizer Ed Davis on today's #KiTC Morning Show.  (Scroll down for the interview)

Here's a list of guidelines for Veterans on Parade from their facebook page:

VETERANS ON PARADE RULES/PROTOCOLS FOR PARADE PARTICIPATION IN 2020!

1.) Masks must be worn at all times, unless you are in a privately owned vehicle and are only riding with members of your immediate

household. Anytime you exit that vehicle, a mask must be worn.

2.) If you are in a vehicle, or riding on a float/trailer, with any person, who is not a member of your immediate household, you must

wear a mask at all times. If you are riding on a float/trailer, please try to maintain some social distance. If you exit that vehicle,

float/trailer for any reason, you must wear a mask.

3.) If you have any symptoms before or on the day of the parade, please do not attend this event and put others at risk.

4.) We are not encouraging veteran/participants to walk in this years parade, however, if there are some who wish to march/walk

in this years event, you must wear a mask for the entire length of the parade and social distance yourselves. There are no

exceptions to this rule.

5.) We will not allow any touching, handshaking, hugging, kissing, hand slapping, fist-bumping or bodily contact of any kind amongst

parade participants and spectators along the parade route, not in the staging area while preparing the lineup. Fraternizing with

anyone in the staging areas is not encouraged, however, it must occur in a social distance.

6.) The distribution of candy along the parade route will be allowed , however, you must agree to the following:

a.) Candy must be individually wrapped/packaged.

b.) The bag of candy must remain sealed until you begin to throw it to the crowd.

c.) Prior to opening the candy, use a generous amount of hand sanitizer or put on a pair of new, sterile/medical disposable gloves.

d.) Once you begin throwing the candy, please don't touch any person, object or your face with your hands. If you do, you must

re-sanitize your hands or put on a new pair of gloves prior to touching and distributing the candy.

7.) Those veterans being driven by a volunteer driver, please get the permission of that individual regarding your wearing a mask or

not, for their safety and yours. Please adhere to their decision, no matter what it may be.

8.) All participants will be requested to read these rules/protocols and sign their name that they are in total agreement and understand

the reasons for complying with them in full.

"Your VOP Committee members fully realize the burden that some of these restrictions may have on some of our parade participants

and first responders, however, this is the only path forward to have a safe and protected event for everyone", stated Davis. For more

information, please contact Ed Davis at home-314-375-7170, cell-618-967-9415 or e-mail him at edward2791@att.net.
