Paducah, Ky. (WJPF) — The Cave-in-Rock Ferry has temporarily stopped operating due to high winds.

 The ferry closed Friday at 10:00 a.m.

The National Weather Service is calling for winds out of the southwest at about 20 miles per hour through Friday afternoon, so the duration of this ferry closure is unknown.

The ferry normally starts service at 6:00 a.m., 7 days a week. The last run from the Illinois landing is at 9:40 p.m. The last run from the Kentucky landing is at 9:50 p.m. The ferry carries about 500 vehicles across the Ohio River in an average day.
