CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois softball’s Jackie Lis cemented herself among the nation’s best this season and has earned yet another award after being named a Freshman All-American by D1Softball.com the publication announced Tuesday.

Lis earned a plethora of awards throughout the season after leading the Salukis to the NCAA Softball Tournament following a championship run during the MVC Softball Tournament.

The Newburgh, Indiana native set five SIU records in her first season with the Salukis. She had two three-home run games (a single-game record), and tallied eight RBIs against Murray State (a single-game record) while totaling 17 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 125 total bases through 56 games- all single-season records. In her first NCAA Tournament appearance, Lis recorded three hits and two RBIs in Southern’s two games against Utah and Baylor.

Lis finished the season with a .356 average, a .443 on-base percentage, and a team-best .718 slugging percentage. Her 17 home runs tied for the MVC lead.

Lis also earned NFCA All-Region honors as well as First Team All-MVC accolades.
