CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois men’s golf team is headed to the West Lafayette Regional, hosted by Purdue, and will prepare for the NCAA Division I Championship tournament for the fourth time in school history. The 13-team regional takes place at the Kampen-Cosler Course in the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, May 13-15. The top five teams from each regional will advance to the finals, May 24-29, in Carlsbad, Calif.

Head Coach Justin Fetcho is excited for the opportunity to play in a course he is familiar with.

“I am really happy with our selection as Kampen was the course I was the most familiar with as a coach,” he said. “This will make our preparation so much more efficient.”

Southern earned their first trip to the NCAA Regionals since 2022 after claiming the Missouri Valley Conference Championship by eight strokes over second-place Missouri State.

The West Lafayette regional, hosted by Purdue, contains 13 teams seeded as follows:

  1. Vanderbilt
  2. Arizona
  3. Florida
  4. New Mexico
  5. Purdue
  6. San Diego State
  7. Mississippi State
  8. Indiana
  9. College of Charleston
  10. Stetson
  11. Colorado State
  12. Southern Illinois

Edouard Cereto was named the MVC Newcomer of the Year and voted to the All-Conference team, along with teammate Dain Richie. Head coach Justin Fetcho will coach in his third NCAA Tournament with the Salukis.

“What an exciting day for our program,” Fetcho said.
